Jeg tiltrådte som professor i antikke og tidligkristne studier ved MF i 2015. Jeg har tidligere vært ansatt som førsteamanuensis ved Department of Ancient History ved Macquire University i Sydney. Jeg har også vært engasjert i forsknings- og undervisningsstillinger ved Institut français d'archéologie orientale i Kairo og ved Université Laval i Québec.

Mine forskningsinteresser og undervisningsaktiviteter spenner bredt og over flere tilknyttede felt, fra arkeologi (spesielt Egypt og Dalmatia), til språk (hovedsakelig koptisk, gammelegyptisk, arabisk, syrisk, gammel nord arabisk), epigrafi, papyrologi, religionsstudier, osv. De siste tjue årene har jeg ledet flere arkeologiske prosjekter på vegne av Institut français d'archéologie orientale. Siden 2014 har jeg ledet utgravninger i Bribir i Kroatia. Jeg er for tiden hovedforsker av det ERC-finansierte forskningsprosjektet DEChriM og jeg leder utgravningene ved Tell Ganub Qasr al-Aguz, i Bahriyya Oasis, og co-dirigerer utgravningene ved Shams al-Din og Dayr Mustafa Kashif, i Kharga Oasis.
